Kolohe Andino, Jake Marshall, Barron Mamiya, Isabella Nichols and Marlon Harrison test out some soon-to-be-released settings at Urbn Surf.

When a lay day was announced at the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, the crew seized the opportunity to hit up Urbn Surf in Melbourne.

Urbn gave our crew the chance to test-drive some of the new wave settings they're currently developing, which the team wasted zero time ripping apart.

The first wave off the rank was half an hour of a new turn setting that pumps out two zippy Snapper Rocks-esque waves every 30 seconds.

With the full pool to ourselves, Barron, Isabella and Jake began surfing the right, while Marlon and Kolohe traded backhand blasts on the right. Together the crew went toe-to-toe, hammering turn after turn until they hit the switch and they engaged in a half-hour tube fest.

When the final hooter sounded and the surfers returned to shore with gigantic smiles, having trialed out new boards with an array of different fins. All were in agreement that they wish they could have spent another hour there.
