Filipe’s victory at The Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach was one for the ages. From groomed perfection at the Bells Bowl, to tricky onshore Winkipop and finally to the softer walls of Rincon. Regardless of the conditions on offer, Filipe was a clear standout which speaks to his adaptability and how highly tuned he is with his equipment.
As the waves changed through the rounds, we saw Filipe switch from his Sharp Eye Dark Arts 77 model set up with the H4 Quads, then back to a standard PU board paired with his signature FT Large thruster fins featuring AirCore technology.
Delivering the perfect mix of power carves, high speed critical turns and his trademark airs, Filipe’s surfing throughout the event was near flawless. Now in the Yellow Leaders Jersey going in West Oz, we’re pretty confident he’ll be wearing it until they hand him the World Title trophy.
