Vale Pio Marasco

Remembering Pio Marasco

In memory of Pio Marasco - the “fin man". 1969 - 2026.

In 1989 Pio moved to Maui because of his passion for the ocean and water sports. That decision shaped everything that followed. What began as a connection to MFC Hawaii in 1986, became a lifetime spent in the water and at the workbench: shaping the first CNC fins in 1991, co-designing the Style Master with Josh Stone that changed freestyle windsurfing for good, and helping pioneer tow fins for Jaws alongside Laird Hamilton, Dave Kalama and Darrick Doerner.

Eighteen windsurfing world titles. Seven SUP world titles with Kai Lenny. Decades of fins trusted by some of the best to ever do it.

In 2024, MFC and FCS joined forces, and Pio was at the heart of it. Pio brought decades of firsthand knowledge from Maui to our team at FCS and helped to shape how we think about fins across all kinds of water sports. We were lucky to call him one of our own.

Rest easy, Pio.

Thank you for everything.

On behalf of Pio's family, we request that you please consider donating to the GoFundMe that has been set up to help Pio's wife Gretchen and their daughter Allegra as they try to navigate this heartbreaking loss.
